#15 Tartans Win Third Straight by Defeating Concordia Wisconsin 8-1

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 15th nationally, run its win streak to three straight with an 8-1 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin late Thursday night. The Tartans overall dual record is now 8-4 while the Falcons move to 14-3.

How it Happened:

  • The Tartans were in the lead 2-1 after doubles play. Junior Zoe Angell and senior Danna Taylor won at first doubles with a score of 8-6. Sophomore Divya Venkatarama and freshman Elaine Qian won at second doubles with a score of 8-2.
  • After Concordia won the point in third doubles, the Tartans swept singles play, winning all but one of the matches in straight sets.
  • Junior Sarah Yang won at first singles, only dropping two games in the second set.
  • Freshman Ainika Hou finished the match off strong with a score 6-0, 6-0.

  • The Tartans will host Division I Duquesne University on Saturday, March 30.
