Kiefel Breaks Triple Jump Record at WVU Last Chance
(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the West Virginia University Last Chance on Saturday.
Top Performances in the Field:
- Sophomore Jocelyn Kiefel took second in the triple jump with a school record jump of 11.16 meters. The sophomore topped Samantha Simmons' school record of 11.09 meters set in 2008.
- In the javelin, sophomore Jolie Wasserman took third with a throw of 30.04 meters.
- Senior Serena Li tied for third in the long jump with a mark of 5.05 meters.
- Junior JoJo Huczko cleared the bar at 3.20 meters in the pole vault to place fifth.
Top Performances on the Track:
- The 400-meter race was won by junior Isabella Rhee in a personal-best time of 58.26.
- Senior Samantha Giordani ran a season-best time of 12.19 in the 100-meter dash to win the event. She then took second in the 200-meter dash after crossing in 25.04.
- Senior Liz Barre took third on the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.13.
- The 1,500-meter run had graduate student Kristen Seballos placing third with a time of 4:43.70.
