Barre Tops Own School Record in Long Jump at All-Atlantic Regional

(SELINSGROVE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday and Thursday hosted by Susquehanna University. The Tartans placed seventh in a field of 47 teams that scored points.

Top Performances in the Field:

  • Senior Liz Barre won the long jump, as she broke her previous school record jump of 5.86 meters when she leapt 5.88 meters.
  • Barre also won the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.71 meters.

Top Performances on the Track:

  • Barre took second in the 100-meter hurdles after crossing the line in 14.38.
  • Senior Samantha Giordani ran in the 200-meter dash and 100-meter dash and placed sixth in both, respectively. She ran the 100 in 12.21 and the 200 in 25.47.

Up Next:

  • The Tartans will now wait for the NCAA to announce the athletes selected to the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held in Rochester, New York, from Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27.
