Tartans Hit Best Marks at Division I Meets

(PITTSBURGH, Pa) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled to Marshall University for the Marshall Invitational as well as Boston University for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10.

Top Performances at Boston:

  • Sophomore Orit Shiang finished the 5,000-meter run in a career-best time of 17:27.08.
  • Senior Isabella Rhee set a career-best time in the 800-meter run in 2:17.11.

Top Performances at Marshall:

  • Junior Kayla Rountree placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 12.51 meters.
  • Senior JoJo Huczko placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters.
  • Sophomore Iniyaa Mohanraj placed third in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 10.95 meters.

Notes:

  • Shiang's time in the 5,000-meter run is now second-best in program history.
  • Rhee's time in the 800-meter run is third-best in program history.

Up Next: 

  • The Tartans will travel to Penn State University to compete in the Penn State Last Chance meet on Friday, February 16 as well as Mount Union to compete in the Mount Union Tune-Up on Saturday, February 17 before the University Athletic Association Championships on February 24-25.
