Rhee Wins Final Collegiate Race at All-Atlantic Regional, Barre Wins Heptathlon at North Central

(CORTLAND, N.Y.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday and Thursday hosted by SUNY Cortland. Graduate student Liz Barre competed in the heptathlon at the North Central College Cardinal Combine on Monday and Tuesday.

Barre's Performances at North Central:

  • Barre won the heptathlon with 5,009 points and currently ranks third nationally in Division III.
  • Barre won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.48 seconds, high jump clearing the bar at 1.68 meters and 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.13 seconds.
  • She placed second in the shot put with a toss of 10.59 meters and the long jump with a mark of 5.52 meters.
  • Her second personal-best time of the event happened when she crossed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.94.

Top Performances at Atlantic Regional:

  • Senior Isabella Rhee won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:14.21.
  • Finishing fourth in the 800-meter race was sophomore Jacqueline Liu, as she crossed in 2:15.44.

Up Next:

  • The Tartans will now wait for the NCAA to announce the athletes selected to the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships which will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from Thursday, May 23 through Saturday, May 25.
