(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team closed its home season with a pair of victories while celebrating the senior class on Saturday, October 28. The Tartans topped William Smith by a 3-2 score before defeating Randolph Macon, 3-0, to move to 18-7 for the season.
Inside The Box Score Against William Smith
- William Smith took the first set by a 25-22 score before the Tartans tied in with a 25-9 win. After William Smith won the third set, the Tartans forced a fifth with a 28-26 win and later won 15-8 for the match victory.
- Three seniors led the attack with Laura Reichard putting down 13 kills, Jane Dean 11 kills, and Avani Seshiah 10 kills.
- Senior Mindee Lai collected 41 assists and also led the team with five service aces.
- Junior Abby Chen picked up 26 digs with Reichard collecting 24 digs.
- Freshman Zoe Gavros tied her career-high with 13 digs and also had two service aces.
- Freshman Neha Tummala dished out 12 assists.
- The Tartans had 20 block assists with Dean, Reichard, and sophomore Julianna McFarland each having three.
Inside The Box Score Against Randolph Macon
- The Tartans hit .929 in the first set with 13 kills to win 25-5 before putting down 15 kills in set two to win 25-18. The Tartans finished the match with a 25-15 set-three win.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Schlemmer led the offense alongside Dean with eight kills apiece.
- Seshiah picked up seven kills to assist the offense.
- Tummala orchestrated the offense with 24 assists.
- Chen led with 18 digs while Reichard had 10.
- Schlemmer led at the net with four block assists while Dean and sophomore Kai Herchenroether each collected three block assists.

The Tartans will travel to SUNY Geneseo for a 6:00 p.m. contest on Friday, November 3 before finishing the regular season with two matches on Saturday, November 4 at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational.
