Three Named Athlete of the Week by ECAC

(DANBURY, Conn.) – Three Carnegie Mellon University athletes were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) when the organization announced its weekly award winners this week. Junior Rose Ciriello (Madison, N.J./Madison) and sophomore Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) from women's track and field and freshman Arthur Dzieniszewski (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) from men's track and field were the award winners.

Rose Ciriello - South Women's Track and Field Runner of the Week

Junior Rose Ciriello opened her outdoor season at the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival over the weekend. The junior turned in a first and third-place finish Saturday afternoon. She won the 800-meter run in 2:19.89 and earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.26. She was also part of the 4x400-meter relay that placed second in 4:11.73.

Michelle Karabin - South Women's Track and Field - Field Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Michelle Karabin won the pole vault after clearing the bar at 3.65 meters at the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival. Here height was a career-best.

Arthur Dzieniszewski - South Men's Track and Field Rookie of the Week

In his first collegiate outdoor meet, freshman Arthur Dzieniszewski won the 1,500-meter run after crossing in 4:05.87 at the Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival. He also placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.39.
