(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Following the most successful year in Carnegie Mellon Athletics history, which was highlighted by a team and individual national championship, the athletics department has released its annual report. The report, which details the program’s highlights from the 2022-23 athletic seasons, will be published following each academic year.

“We are excited to continue this new initiative to chronicle and celebrate the last year in Tartan history,” said Director of Athletics Josh Centor. “The 2022-23 academic year was historic for our program, and it is important to document and celebrate our successes. We look forward to continuing to build on our momentum, both on and off the fields of play."

The 2022-23 athletics year was highlighted by the first NCAA team championship in Carnegie Mellon history, as the men's golf team was victorious at nationals last May. During the winter season, Liz Barre captured the program's first individual national championship in 16 years when she won the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Tartans finished 14th in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings, which was the program's best-ever finish.

In addition to sending multiple teams deep into NCAA Championship events, the program continued construction of the new Highmark Center for Health, Wellness and Athletics, which will open in August 2024. The Tartans also launched their new strategic plan.
