Guya Garners UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore safety Malcolm Guya (Whitehall Pa.) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Athlete of the Week.  Butler receives the honor following his performance in the Tartans' 9-7 heartbreaking setback to Washington University in St. Louis Saturday, November 2.

Guya turned in a career performance, as he recorded a career-high 11 tackles while forcing a crucial fumble late in the fourth quarter and recorded two passes defended.  The sophomore's forced fumble came when the Bears were driving for the go-ahead score for a second time late in the fourth quarter. His hit on Zach Strittmatter jarred the ball lose and was recovered by Carnegie Mellon.

The Tartans will return to action next Saturday, November 9, when they head to Chicago to take on the University of Chicago Maroons in a 12:00 pm CT contest.
