Kohman and Benger Garner Weekly Honors For Second Straight Week

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomores, punter Tyler Kohman (Pataskala, Ohio/Columbus Academy) and running back Sam Benger (Hingham, Mass.), received recognition for a second straight week following their performances on the field in the Tartans' 35-7 win at Geneva College.  Benger garnered Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Offense Player of the Week while Kohman was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Special Teams Athlete of the Week as well as Carnegie Mellon's Student-Athlete of the Week.
    
Kohman played a huge factor in the Tartans' first win of the season in giving the Golden Tornadoes a long field to work with.   He totaled six punts for the Tartans, placing three inside the Golden Tornadoes' 11-yard line.  Kohman had a long of 52 yards while averaging 46.0 yards per punt for the afternoon. He currently ranks eighth in Division III averaging 43.0 yards per punt.

Benger continued his journey to a record-setting season in Saturday's win at Geneva, finishing with 28 carries for 194 yards (6.9 yards/carry) and a pair of touchdowns. It marked the fourth-straight game he has rushed for at least 175 yards and recorded over 200 all-purpose yards dating back to last season. Benger also caught three passes for 16 yards. The sophomore leads all of college football in rushing (233.7 yards/game) and all-purpose yards per game (244.33 yards/game).

The Tartans head to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, to play the Titans of Westminster College on Saturday, October 3.  Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
