Men’s Basketball Adds Fleegle and Goldcamp to 2017-18 Staff

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Jacob Fleegle and Kyle Goldcamp have been added the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball staff as announced by head coach Tony Wingen, who is in his 28th year at the helm program, for the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Goldcamp returns to the bench of the Tartans after taking last season off.

"This is a tremendous boost for our program. I am delighted to add Coach Fleegle and to have Coach Goldcamp rejoin our staff," Wingen said. "Combining them with Jeff VanGorder, puts our staff in a great position, in every way – coaching, teaching, and recruiting."

Fleegle comes to Carnegie Mellon from Waynesburg University where he was the Yellow Jackets graduate assistant for the past two seasons. Fleegle received dual bachelor degrees in secondary education/social studies and political science in 2015 from Waynesburg before earning his master's in education with an athletic administration/coaching concentration in May of 2017 from Waynesburg.

While a student-athlete for the Yellow Jackets, Fleegle started 102 of the 110 games in which he appeared. He became the 33rd player in Waynesburg's history to record 1,000 career points and finished with 1,070 points. Fleegle also recorded 438 rebounds, 50 blocks, 171 assists and 86 steals while shooting 79.7% from the foul line for his career.

Fleegle, a native of the Jennerstown, Pennsylvania, was a three-time member of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll and a member of the Waynesburg Dean's List every semester. Following the 2015 season, he was named to the Capital One Division III Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Fleegle was also a two-year member of the Yellow Jackets' men's golf team his junior and senior years.

"Jacob's background as a high level student-athlete and his teaching ability will enable him to make a quick, meaningful connection with our players," Wingen added. "And, we are already seeing the benefits of his camp and recruiting network."

Goldcamp was part of the Tartan staff during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons where he worked primarily with the post players. He will resume the same responsibilities this season.

The Pittsburgh native and 2004 graduate of Central Catholic High School earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Gannon in 2009.  Goldcamp completed his master's in education in 2011 from Gannon.  He currently is the Director of Campus Ministry at Central Catholic.

Goldcamp was part of the basketball team at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown before playing two seasons at Gannon University.  During his time as a Golden Knight, Goldcamp was named Street & Smith's Preseason All-America Honorable-Mention, All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First Team and GLIAC All-Defensive Team. He ranks second all-time at Gannon in field-goal percentage (.626), fourth in blocked shots (115), sixth in scoring average (16.7) and 34th in scoring (904). During his senior season he helped lead Gannon to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship in the school's inaugural season as a PSAC member and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.

Following his collegiate playing career, Goldcamp went on to play four seasons for the Erie Bayhawks, a member of the National Basketball Association (NBA) D-League.  In four seasons, he played in 159 games averaging 8.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and shot 55.4% from the floor.

"Our players will all benefit from Kyle's abilities as a mentor and teacher," Wingen said. "His experience as an accomplished college and professional player gives him instant credibility, and he translates that experience to our team through outstanding instruction on the floor."
