Bangor and Strimel Lead Tartans at Kravetz

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University golf team finished the Kravetz Invitational on Saturday, April 21 in fourth place with ateam score of 640. Nebraska Wesleyan won the invitational after firing a 631.  Play began Friday at the par-72 Irondequoit Country Club with Saturday's round being played at the par-71 Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.

The Tartans shot 329 at Oak Hill in wet, windy and cold conditions after shooting a 311 at Irondequoit on Friday in sunny and warm weather. sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) carded low rounds each round for the Tartans of 75 and 78 finishing second overall for the tournament with a 153. Bangor actually tied for tied for the top spot, but lost the tiebreaker, which was the second nine holes in Saturday's round.
    
Sophomore Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finished three strokes back of Bangor with a 156 (77-79) to place tied for fourth.  Senior Michael Cheng (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) shot a 180 (83-97) carded rounds of 79-84 for a 163 while freshman Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) entered the clubhouse with a 168 (80-88). Senior Terence Einhorn (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) rounded out the Tartans with a 174 (82-92).

Individually, Carnegie Mellon entered one golfer into the invitational.  Freshman Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) had rounds of 80-83 for a 163.
