Golf Ties for Seventh at Mid-Atlantic Regional

(HERSHEY, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team carded a 339 on the final day of the Mid-Atlantic Regional to finish tied for seventh with a two-day team score of 672.  The two-day 14-team event was held at the par-71, Hershey Country Club.

St. John Fisher shot rounds of 313 and 325 to take home first place with a 638 followed by Franklin & Marshall and McDaniel who carded a 651 and 661, respectively.

The Tartans individually were led by sophomore Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) as he finished the regional tied for 16th-place after carding rounds of 81 and 83 for a 164. Senior Terence Einhorn (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) carded an 83 on Monday ending the tournament with a 166 placing tied for 18th.

Freshman Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) improved two strokes from his opening round 86 to fire an 84 on Monday ending the 36-hole event with a 170.  Sophomore Grant Strimel (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) finished the regional five  strokes behind Fischler with a 175 (86-89) while senior  Michael Cheng (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) shot a 180 (83-97).

The Tartans return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15 as they host the Annual Edward Jones Shootout.  The two-day event will be held at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pa.
