Qian Records Second Top 10 Finish of Season at Mercyhurst Invitational

(ERIE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team improved nine strokes from its opening round at the Mercyhurst University Fall Invitational to finish with a team score of 605 (307-298) on Monday, September 29.  The Tartans placed eighth out of 14 teams as Roberts Wesleyan University won the event with a score of 590 on the par 72 Lake View Country Club. The Tartans team round of 298 was the third best on Monday and matched their lowest round of the fall.
    
Sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) shot four-over par 147 (71-76) for the tournament to place ninth as an individual in a field of 77. Senior Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) had a 36-hole score of 152 (77-75).  Sophomore Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) shot even-par 72 on Monday after improving 10 strokes from his opening round to finish with a 154.

Senior Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) and sophomore Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Sutherland) both ended the 36-hole event with a 157.  Fischler carded rounds of 77 and 80 while Jennette fired rounds of 82 and 75. Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as freshman Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) had rounds of 81 and 75 to finish with a 156.

The Tartans will conclude their fall season on Wednesday, October 8 when they host the Carnegie Mellon Fall Invitational. Play is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Longue Vue Club and Golf Course in Verona, Pennsylvania.
