Qian Wins Individual Medalist at Hershey Cup – Ties Two School Records

(HERSHEY, Pa.) – At the final day of the Hershey Cup, sophomore George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team tied the school record for the lowest round with a four-under par 67 on Monday, April 6.  The 36-hole tournament is being held on the par-71 East Course at Hershey Country Club where the Tartans finished with a team score of 620 (318-302) to place fourth as team, one-stroke behind nationally ranked St. John Fisher.

Franklin & Marshall shot rounds of 300 and 304 to take home first-place with a 604 followed by Skidmore with a 613 (308-305), St. John Fisher 319 (322-297) and the Tartans.

Qian garnered individual medalist honors with a two-round score of 141 (74-67) which also ties the school record for the lowest two-round total.  The sophomore carded six birdies and an eagle on Monday.  Sophomore Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) finished the cup tied for sixth-place after improving two strokes on Monday firing a three-over par 75 to end the tournament with a 152 (77-75).

Seniors Cameron Low (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) and Justin Fischler (Avon, Conn.) each had rounds of 80 on Monday afternoon.  Low ended with a 36-hole score of 161 (81-80) while Fischler's score counted towards the team on Monday after having to withdraw in the opening round due to illness. Rounding out the Tartans top five golfers was sophomore Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) with a 173 (86-87).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as freshman Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) finished with a 163 (82-81).

The Tartans return to action on Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12 as they host the Annual Edward Jones Shootout.  The two-day event will be held at The Links @ Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania.
