Men’s Golf Leads Field Following First Round of Hershey Cup

(HERSHEY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team currently leads the field at the 15-team Hershey Cup following the first round of play. On Sunday, the Tartans fired a team score of 309 on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club. The two-day, 36-hole event is being hosted by the University of Rochester.

The Tartans currently hold an 11-stroke lead, as Allegheny College fired a 320 Sunday afternoon. In third is York College with a 321.

Junior Brad Jennette (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) turned in the lowest round of the day tying a career-best round of one-over par 72. The junior will enter Monday's play holding a three-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard.

Junior George Qian (Bettendorf, Iowa/Montverde Academy) is tied for sixth after entering the clubhouse with a 77. Junior Jordan Klodowski (Kittanning, Pa.) and sophomore Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) both carded a round of 80 while sophomore Adrian Del Bosque (Monterrey, Mexico/IMG Academy) fired an 88 on Sunday.  

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as junior Alexander Pomerantz (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) shot an 88.

Day two continues Monday, April 4 with the first group teeing off at 8:09 a.m.
