Mohan Named ECAC Division III Men’s Golfer of the Month for April

(DANBURY, Conn.) – Junior Nikhil Mohan (Bangalore, India/Canadian International School) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was named Corvias Division III Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Golfer of the Month for April.

Mohan recorded a scoring average of 73.8 in four rounds during the month of April for the Tartans. Mohan claimed individual medalist honors, in a field of 49 golfers, at the Carnegie Mellon Spring Shootout at The Links at Spring Church. He carded a five-over par 145 after carding rounds of 73 and 72. His play helped lead the Tartans to the team victory in the field of nine teams. The junior also posted a top-10 finish in the Hershey Cup at the challenging Hershey Country Club East Course, totaling 150 (72-80) over the two-day event to finish tied for seventh.

Through 21 rounds of competition this season, Mohan has a scoring average of 75.6, ranking second best on the team.

Mohan and the play of the Tartans propelled the team to a bid for the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships May 16-19 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, on the El Campeón Course and Las Colinas Course. The Tartans are set to begin the championships on Tuesday, May 16 with a 7:30 a.m. tee time on El Campeón.
