Tartans Place Seventh at Jekyll Island Collegiate

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished play at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday with a seventh-place finish. The Tartans ended with a 54-hole score of 880 (291-293-296) after carding a 296 in the last round. The three-day event is being played on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island. The field is comprised of 30 teams which has 14 of the nation's top 25 teams in Division III including four of the top five.

Sophomore Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) tied for ninth on the individual leaderboard with a 54-score of 214 (69-71-74). Sophomore Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) carded his second straight round of even par 72 Sunday afternoon and finished with a 221 (77-72-72).

Senior Patrick Tan (Vancouver, British Columbia/Prince of Wales Secondary) ended play with a 75 on Sunday and totaled 223 (72-76-75). Freshman William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) shot a 229 (80-74-75) over the 54-hole event while classmate Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) ended the event with a 230 (73-76-81).

Carnegie Mellon had two individuals play on the par-72 Oleander Course. Sophomore Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) had a 220 (74-75-71) while freshman James Pak (Palisades Park, N.J./Bergen Catholic) shot a 237 (83-74-80).

The Tartans will be back on the links Monday, April 1 when they compete in the two-day Wynlakes Intercollegiate at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama.
