Tartans Finish Sixth at Savannah Invitational

(SAVANNAH, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team, ranked fifth nationally, ended play at The Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College on Tuesday. The Cardinal and Gray carded a 305 for the final round and placed sixth with an 900 (300-295-305) in the 54-hole tournament.

Inside the Intercollegiate:

How it Happened:

  • Freshman David Zhang carded an even-par round 72 over the final 18 holes and finished tied for fifth individually in a field of 90 golfers with a 218 (75-71-72)
  • Graduate student Henry Scavone ended the invite with a 223 (75-72-76).
  • Sophomore Justin Chan had a 54-hole score of 229 (74-76-79).
  • Freshman Andrew Wang carded a 230 (76-76-78).
  • Rounding out the Tartans scoring was junior Brian Xu with a 233 (76-76-81).

Individuals Compete at Port City Invitational:

  • The Tartans had three individuals compete at the par 71, 6,715-yard Savannah Country Club as senior Morgan Yang led the trio with a 230 (79-80-71) after posting a collegiate-best round of even par 71 on Tuesday.
  • Freshman Jay Saluja finished with a 234 (77-80-77).
  • Senior Joshua Lim shot 240 (78-82-80).

Up Next:

  • The Tartans will be back on the links Saturday, March 11, when they compete at the University Athletic Association Championships. The two-day match play event is hosted by New York at Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake, Florida.
