Tartans Finish Fifth at Golfweek DIII Fall Invite

(MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team ended play at the 2023 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational Tuesday in Miramar Beach, Florida. The Cardinal and Gray carded a 291 over the final 18 holes and placed fifth with an 869 (282-296-291) in the 54-hole tournament.

How it Happened:

  • Junior Justin Chan finished second individually in a field of 125 golfers with a 205 (65-67-73) (-8).
  • Senior Brian Xu ended tied for ninth individually after carding a one-over par 73 on Tuesday and had a 54-hole score of 214 (69-73-73).
  • Sophomore David Zhang le the Tartans in round three with a one-under par 70 and ended the invite with a 219 (70-79-70).
  • On Tuesday, sophomore Andrew Wang carded his best round of the event and ended with a 233 (79-78-76).
  • Freshman Justin Luan ended with a 236 (78-78-80).

Notes:

  • Chan's score of 205 (-8) is the third lowest individual 54-hole total in the program's history.
