(ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the first round of the Jekyll Collegiate Invitational on Friday. The Tartans carded a team score 297 to open play at the 54-hole event and currently are tied for 10th in a field of 30 teams.

How it Happened:

  • Junior Justin Chan led the Tartans on Friday, as he carded a round of one-over par 72. He is currently tied for tied for 19th individually in a field of 150 golfers.
  • Freshman Ryan Dannegger fired a three-over par 74.
  • Entering the clubhouse with a four-over par 75 was senior Brian Xu.
  • Sophomore Jay Saluja ended round one with a 76.
  • Sophomore David Zhang finished with a 77.

  • The second round of the collegiate will be held Saturday, March 23, with the Tartans teeing off at 12:46 p.m.
