Tartans Sweep UAA and ECAC Men’s Soccer Athlete of the Week Awards

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Following back-to-back University Athletic Association (UAA) road victories for the 6th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team, junior Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) and sophomore Jakob Rohwer (Southborough, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) were honored by the UAA and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week.  Tassano earned offensive honors while Rohwer was honored on the defensive side.

On Friday, October 26, the Tartans traveled into the Big Apple and defeated New York University 4-1 before heading north Sunday, October 28 and taking down the 17th-ranked Judges of Brandeis 2-1.  The Tartans improved to 12-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the UAA and will play for the Association title Saturday, November 3 when the Eagles of Emory University travel to Pittsburgh.  Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Tassano scored two goals and assisted on another score in the two contests. He tallied once and assisted on a score at NYU on Friday and netted his fifth game-winner of the season in the Tartans' come-from-behind victory over Brandeis.

Rohwer anchored the Tartan defense that held NYU and Brandeis to one goal each.  The sophomore defender contributed an assist against the Violets, who managed just two shots on goal and scored on a penalty kick.
