Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff and Five Players Reap All-Association Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team was rewarded for its first-place finish in the University Athletic Association (UAA) as five players were named to the All-Association team. The coaching staff was also honored as it shares UAA Men's Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year with Brandeis University's staff.

Earning first team honors for the Tartans is senior midfielder John Crawshaw (Carnegie, Pa./Carlynton), junior midfielder Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) and junior forward Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion). Crawshaw tallied three goals and one assist in his midfield role while helping to lead the team back to the NCAA tournament. He was also honored last season on the second team. Sarett also tallied three goals and one assist for the season and makes his second appearance on an All-UAA team as he received honorable mention honors as a freshman. Tassano leads the Tartans with 11 goals scored and five assists and tops the UAA in conference only games with 11 points (5 goals, 1 assist). Four of his goals this season have been game-winners. Tassano also earns his second UAA honor for his career as he was named honorable mention following his freshman season.

Senior defender Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) was awarded with second-team honors while junior forward Chris Wysocki (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) was named to the honorable mention team. Bryant is second on the team in goals scored and points with five and 21, respectively. He has scored two game winners and assisted on five others. Wysocki earned his second career honorable mention honor after scoring two goals in association play and three overall. The junior also assisted on two goals for the season.

Head coach Arron Lujan and assistant coach Mike Piranian were named UAA Coaching Staff of the Year for leading the team to a #6 national ranking, first-place finish in the UAA and a return trip to the NCAA tournament. This marks the second coaching staff honor for Lujan and Piranian as they also received the recognition in 2009.
