Four Honored with All-Region Accolades

(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) – For the second straight year, four Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer players were named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's All-Great Lakes Region Team. Seniors Matt Sarett (Huntersville, N.C./Cannon) and Max Tassano (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) were named to the second team while seniors Ben Bryant (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) and Chris Wysocki (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) were named to the third team.

Sarett is making his second appearance on the All-Great Lakes team as both honors came on the second-team. He led the team from his central midfield position scoring two goals while assisting on two others. He recorded the game-winning goal in the second game of the season against the University of Mount Union as the Tartans won 1-0.

Tassano garnered second-team honors this year following a season in which he was second on the team in points with 16, recording six goals and four assists. He registered three game-winning goals including one in University Athletic Association play against Case Western Reserve. The honor marks Tassano's second by the region as he was a first-team selection in 2012.

Bryant is a repeat honoree on the third team as he tallied two goals and three assists from his outside back position. He had one multi-point game where he assisted on two goals against Washington & Jefferson, including the game winner. He was also part of the defense that allowed 13 goals and a 0.69 goals against average with nine shutouts.

Wysocki earned a third-team selection for his performance up front for the Tartans where he had his best season statistically. The senior led the team in goals scored with nine and points with 19. He recorded two multi-goal games, including one in the team's NCAA first round victory against Virginia Wesleyan College where he tallied one of his four game winners.

On Friday, December 13, the same four were honored by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) by making the ECAC Division III South Men's Soccer All-Star Team. Bryant was named to the first team as a defender while the other three were named to the second team.

These four seniors end their career with a four-year record of 43-19-6, two NCAA second round appearances and one UAA championship.
