Tartans Record Shutout for Fourth Victory in Five Games

(WOOSTER, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team recorded a 2-0 shutout against The College of Wooster on Sunday, September 13 on the road to advance to 4-1 on the season. The Taratns took advantage of an early scoring opportunity and controlled the remainder of the game for the victory.

Sophomore Ryan Stinebaugh (Houston, Texas/Strake Jesuit College Prep) scored his fourth goal of the season and third for the weekend when he pounced on a misplayed ball by the keeper and finished a shot in the third minute of the game.

The Tartans registered another eight shots for the period with one on net before junior Tristan Lockwood (Fairport, N.Y./Victor) added to the lead for the visitors with a shot past Daniel Quinn in the latter seconds of the 62nd minute. A short pass by senior Stefan Dasbach (Philadelphia, Pa./Wissahickon) was finished by Lockwood to the upper 90 for the junior's third score of the year.

Senior Eric Bykowsky (Columbia, S.C./Irmo) made two saves in goal for the Tartans, earning the win and second shutout of the season.

The Tartans return home for the first of a three game homestand on Saturday, September 19 at 5:00 p.m. when they host Bethany College. Bethany has a 2-3 record with a game to play before visiting Pittsburgh.
