Four Players Garner Men’s Soccer All-UAA Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Four Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer players have garnered honors from the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Monday, November 14 when the league announced its 2016 UAA Men's Soccer All-Association Team. Headlining the list is senior Andreas Fatschel (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) and sophomore Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) with a first team selections.

Junior Jimmy Jameson (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and sophomore Anthony Gulli (Warrenville, Ill./St. Joseph) were also honored on the All-Association team as honorable mention selections.

Fatschel was a constant presence on defense for the Tartans as he directed the team from his center back position. The team surrendered 15 goals for the season with a goals against average of 0.77 and nine shutouts with a sophomore and freshman splitting time in net. The honor marks the second of his career and first on the first team.

Masciopinto led the Tartans and the UAA with 13 goals scored with eight coming against league opponents. He scored twice against New York University, Washington University, and Case Western Reserve University. He tallied seven game winners for the season including against NYU and CWRU and earned the assist on the game winner against Washington U.

Jameson played the defensive midfield position for the Tartans helping the team to a second place UAA finish with a 3-2-2 record. He tallied two goals for the year with his second coming in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Gulli was second on the team in goals scored and points with five and 14. He scored two goals against UAA opponents including the game-tying score against Brandeis University.

The Tartans completed their season in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year and 13th time in program history. Their first round victory against Ohio Wesleyan marked the program's sixth such win before they bowed out in the second round.
