Four Tartans Earn All-UAA Recognition

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Four Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday, November 9 for their play throughout the 2017 season in which the team finished 10-4-3 with a 2-3-2 showing in the league. Senior Jimmy Jameson (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) and junior Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill. / Buffalo Grove) both were named to the All-Association First Team with juniors Greg Bellwoar (Devon, Pa. / St. Joe's Prep) and Philip Petrakian (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) named to the second team.

The first-team honor is the first for Jameson who was an honorable mention selection last year. Jameson played both defensive midfield and center back for the Tartans this season and scored a career-best seven goals which was second on the team. In his third year with the Tartans, Masciopinto racks in a second first-team honor after leading the team in goals scored for the second time. This season, Masciopinto scored eight goals with three coming against UAA competition.

Bellwoar and Petrakian both earn the All-Association honor for the first time in their careers. Both were part of the Tartan defense that recorded seven shutouts and a 1.01 goals against average for the year. Bellwoar scored two goals this season, including the game winner against New York University. Petrakian transitioned to outside back this season and assisted on two goals for the Tartans.
