Four Tartans Earn All-UAA Recognition

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Four Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday, November 8 for their play throughout the 2018 season in which the team finished 11-4-2 with a 3-4 showing in the league. Junior Jack Painter (Bethlehem, Pa. / Moravian Academy) was named to the All-Association First Team, junior Jacob Moskowitz (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) earned second-team honors, while senior Philip Petrakian (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) and junior Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) were named honorable mention.

The first-team honor is the first for Painter from the UAA coaches. As a midfielder, Painter has tallied four goals this season with two coming in UAA play. Moskowitz also picks up his first association honor and plays central defender for the Tartans who had two shutouts in UAA action.

Petrakian is now a two-time All-Association player after being named to the second team last season. This year, Petrakian helped lead the Tartans as an outside back with two assists. Cohen led the Tartans with eight goals, including three against UAA opponents with two game winners.

The Tartans season continues on Saturday, November 10 in the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship when they face Centre College at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in first round action. The game is slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
