Tartans Finish Season With Setback to #17 Calvin in NCAA Tournament Play

(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team competed in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on Friday at Kenyon College against 17th-ranked Calvin University. The Knights defeated the Tartans 5-0.

  • The Knights first goal came in the sixth minute.
  • The lead was doubled eight minutes later and then Calvin took a 3-0 lead into the break following a goal in the 40th minute.
  • Carnegie Mellon had eight shots in the first half with three on goal.
  • Calvin added goals in the 71st and then the 81st minute to close the scoring.
  • The second half saw the Cardinal and Gray add five additional shots on goal with senior Kiran Sarvepalli having two of his three in the second frame while classmate Josh Baugh had both his in the final 45 minutes of play.
