Tartans Record Five Honorable Mention All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – On the second day of competition at the 2012 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday, March 22, Carnegie Mellon University recorded five All-America Honorable Mention awards.  The Tartans 400-yard medley relay team along with junior Daniel Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) swam in the consolation finals Thursday evening.

Glaser-Garbrick finished 15th overall in the 400-yard IM, as he touched the wall with a time of 4:01.39 to earn the first All-America Honorable Mention distinction.  

Glaser-Garbrick then was joined by freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview), sophomore Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) and senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council) in the consolation final of the 400-yard medley relay.  With a 16th place finish with a time of 3:26.17, all four earned All-America Honorable Mention.

Glaser-Garbrick also competed in the 200-yard IM at the championships on Wednesday afternoon where he turned in a career-best time of 1:53.65 in the preliminaries. Glaser-Garbrick, Razanav, Bohn and Stanton competed in the 200-yard medley relay on Wednesday as well and missed making the finals, but record a season-best time of 1:34.57.

The team will continue competition on Friday as Bohn will swim in the 100-yard breast stroke and Glaser-Garbrick will compete in his third and final individual event.  The junior will swim in the 200-yard butterfly where he is a two-time All-American in the event after finishing eight the previous two seasons at the national event.
