Stanton Named Academic All-District

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council), a member of the men's swimming and diving team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team.  CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 which is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania.

Stanton, a mechanical engineering major with a minor in business administration and a 3.67 GPA, ended his career with a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.  This past season, Stanton was part of the 400-yard medley relay team that earned All-America Honorable Mention with a 16th place finish in a time of 3:26.17.

He is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Student-Athletic Advisory Council and University Student Affairs Council.  The senior is a three-time All-University Athletic Association Academic honoree and recently competed as part of a summit new venture team, in conjunction with his startup company Sole Power. The team is currently in the process of becoming licensed as an LLC after beginning as a mechanical engineering senior design project. They created a device that fits in the sole of a shoe which generates power while a person walks. Stanton will now move on to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America consideration.
