Tartans Turn in Two NCAA Provisional Cuts at Day One of UAA Championships

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving competed at the first day of the University Athletic Association Championships Thursday, February 16.  The championships are being held in Cleveland, Ohio hosted by Case Western Reserve University.

The 400-yard medley relay team of freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview), sophomore Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona), junior Daniel Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) and senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council) placed second with a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:24.12.

The Tartans second provisional qualifying time came in the 200-yard IM, when Glaser-Garbrick touched the wall with a time of 1:53.97 to place third.  His time was .07 second off of his personal-best time set at the championships a year ago.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Stanton and Bohn along with sophomore Eddie Sears (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) and freshman Josh Lucheon (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) started the finals with a fifth-place finish in a season-best time of 1:25.09.

Freshman Andrew Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) turned in a career-best time of 4:38.25 in the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle before placing eighth in the finals with a time of 4:44.90.

Competition resumes Friday in Cleveland with the preliminaries at 10:00 a.m. and the finals to begin at 6:00 p.m.
