Relay Leads Tartans at UAA Championships

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team are currently fourth in the standings at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships. The 200-yard medley relay led the way for the Tartans while two individuals had a second and third-place showing apiece.

The 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Josh Lucheon (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic), sophomore Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona), junior Daniel Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) and senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council) started day two of the UAA Championships with a second-place finish with a time of 1:34.26.

Glaser-Garbrick then swam in the finals of the 400-yard IM, finishing third in 4:02.38 while provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Freshman David Campbell (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) also swam in the finals of the 400-yard IM finishing fifth in 4:06.72 which was also a provisional mark and a season-best.

In the 100-yard butterfly, junior Brandon Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) finished second in the consolation final with a time of 51.80 while freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview) was fifth in the same final in 52.54. Senior Adam Wagner (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) had the Tartans best finish in the 200-yard freestyle when he touched eighth in the consolation final in 1:45.82.

Bohn made the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke finishing second in 57.83 as freshman Cole Um (Federal Way, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) was fifth in the consolation final with a time of 1:00.58.

Razanav closed the individual events portion of the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 52.38.

The Tartans will continue the championships on Saturday, February 18 with preliminaries starting at 10:00 a.m. and finals starting at 6:00 p.m.
