Tartans Win Home Opener Versus Clarion

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team opened its home season with a 167-133 win over Division II Clarion University on Saturday, November 5. The Tartans won nine races while finishing second in 10.

The 200-yard medley relay team started the meet with a winning time of 1:37.78 before freshman Andrew Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:55.58 with freshman David Campbell (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) coming in second in 10:05.01.

Yee then swam to a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle touching in 1:51.00 behind his junior brother Brandon Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) in second place in 1:45.87.

Freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview) touched first in three events for the day. He claimed the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.35, the 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.08 and the 200-yard IM in 2:00.23. Junior Dan Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centre) was first in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:57.15 and 100-yard butterfly in 52.34 and second in the 200-yard IM in 2:01.09.

Sophomore Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) and sophomore Eddie Sears (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) also grabbed second-place finishes. Bohn was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.31 and Sears was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.69 and the 100-yard freestyle in 48.15.

Freshman Cole Um (Federal Way, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.64 while Andrew Yee picked up his second first-place finish for the day in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:46.48.

The Tartans will next be in the pool on Saturday, November 12, at Grove City College at 1:00 p.m.
