Matthew provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400-yard IM (4:03.48) and in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:55.00) as both times were reached at the UAA Championships. When Matthew touched in 4:03.48 in the 400-yard IM at the UAA Championships, he finished third to earn All-UAA honors. Matthew finished first on the team in the 400-yard IM and in the 200-yard IM (1:54.87) and recorded his best time in the 200-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle (1:43.13) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.22) at the UAA Championships.
