Tartans Win Every Event at Dual Meet with Grove City

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team competed against Grove City College on Saturday, November 2 and topped the Wolverines 238-62. The Tartans won all 16 events.

Freshman Mason Loyet (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) and junior Max Gonzalez (Allison Park, Pa. / North Allegheny) were double winners for the day while Gonzalez was part of the 200-yard medley relay that won. Loyet touched first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.02 and in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.23. Gonzalez won both backstroke events with times of 1:58.82 in the 200-yard event and 54.31 in the 100-yard event.

Freshman Erik Feldmann (Yakima, Wash. / West Valley) touched first in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.35 while senior Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason) was first in the 200-yard freestyle. Both were part of the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay that finished first.

Other winners on the day were junior Andrew Joyner (Holly Springs, N.C. / Tar Heel Springs Academy) in the 1,000-yard freestyle, freshman John McNab (Westport, Conn. / Staples) in the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Aleksander Tarczynski (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) in the 400-yard IM, freshman Alex Chiu (Sewell, N.J. / Washington Township) in the 100-yard butterfly, freshman Matthew Nagler (West Chicago, Ill. / St. Charles East) in the 50-yard freestyle, and freshman Sean Ream (Canton, Ohio / Jackson) in the 200-yard butterfly.

Freshman Matthew Wagner (Mason, Ohio / Wiliam Mason) placed first on the 1-meter diving board with a final tally of 265.35 while sophomore Judson Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) won the 3-meter event for the second straight meet with a score of 248.15.

The Tartans will next host Washington and Lee University for a dual meet on Saturday, November 16 at 11:30 a.m.
