Men’s Swimming and Diving Honored by CSCAA for Academics

CSCAA Scholar All America

(NORFOLK, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as nine individuals were also named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.

The Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The men's team earned a 3.61 GPA for the spring semester and also earned the award following the fall semester in which they recorded a 3.64 team GPA.

Individuals who achieved a 3.50 GPA or better for the year and either met a provisional time standard or competed at the NCAA Championships were honored.

Due to the cancellation of the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships and lack of outside competition for the Tartans, the nine members who met a provisional time standard in the home intersqaud meet earned Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors.

Earning recognition for the year is junior Colin Daniel (Westfield, N.J./Westfield), junior Richard Dauksher (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge), senior Max Gonzalez (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny), freshman Tyler Hoyt (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest), junior James Kyle (Austin, Texas/St. Stephen's Episcopal School), sophomore John McNab (Westport, Conn./Staples), junior Sean Ream (Canton, Ohio/Jackson), freshman Chris Stange (St. James, N.Y. / St. Anthony's), and sophomore Matthew Wagner (Mason, Ohio/William Mason).

Daniel, Dauksher, Gonzalez, and Kyle earn the distinction for the third time while McNab, Ream, and Wagner earn the award for the second time.
