Tartans Open Swim Season with Dual-Meet Victory Against CWRU

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team began the season with a dual-meet victory against Case Western Reserve University by a 195-103 score at home on Saturday, October 29.

Top Performances

  • Junior Santiago Gomez touched first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.28.
  • Sophomore Christian Lanuza was the first to finish the 100-yard breaststroke in 56.98.
  • Freshman DJ Lloyd led a sweep of the 50-yard freestyle in 21.17 and also won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.65.
  • Sophomore Sammy Telanoff finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:07.32.
  • Freshman Kevin Zhou led a sweep of the 100-yard butterfly in 50.99.
  • Senior Aleksander Tarczynski won the 200-yard IM in 1:53.05.
  • The Tartans also won the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
  • Graduate student Jud Kyle hit two NCAA regional qualifying scores with victories on the 1-meter board (301.50) and the 3-meter board (332.75 points).
  • Senior Matthew Wagner also hit two NCAA regional qualifying scores, placing second on the 3-meter board (278.65 points) and second on the 1-meter board (296.25).
