Tartans Win Both Events at W&J Diving Invitational

(WASHINGTON, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's diving team competed at the Washington & Jefferson College Diving Invitational on Friday, December 1.

Results

  • Senior Tyler Hoyt placed first on the 1M springboard, earning a career-best 519.80 points. His top-scoring dive was 105b (forward 2 ½ somersaults), earning three 8.5s, two 8.0s, and two 7.5s from the judges. 
  • Junior Jonathan Lindstrom placed first on the 3M springboard, earning a career-best 539.85 points. His top-scoring dive was 5231d (back 1 ½ somersaults ½ twist), earning four 8.5s and three 8.0s from the judges.

Notes

  • Both Hoyt and Lindstrom secure their invitations to the NCAA Diving Regional in March by hitting the qualifying standard for the second time this season.

The team breaks for the holiday and will return to competition at the CMU Quad Meet with Denison University, Calvin University, and Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, January 13.
