April 23 – (AUSTIN, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving sophomore DJ Lloyd has been named to the Academic All-America® men's swimming and diving team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. Lloyd's honor is the second straight for the program.

This prestigious award for Lloyd marks the 10th time a Carnegie Mellon men's swimming and diving athlete has earned Academic All-America recognition and the second time a sophomore has made the list. Lloyd was selected to the second team and joins James Kyle (2023), Justin Britton (2019, 2020, 2022), Alex Hanson (2010, 2011), Chris Pearson (2004, 2005), and John Murray (1999) as the honorees in Carnegie Mellon history.

Lloyd is an electrical and computer engineering major with a 3.93 grade point average. He had a lot of success this season in the pool, winning the 50-yard freestyle five times in dual meets and invitationals. He was selected to compete at the NCAA Championships after achieving a B cut in the 50-yard freestyle.

At the NCAA Championships this year, Lloyd placed 16th in the 50-yard freestyle to claim All-America Second Team honors. He also swam in three relays that earned awards at the meet with the 200-yard freestyle relay placing fifth, the 200-yard medley relay placing sixth, and the 400-yard freestyle relay placing ninth.

Lloyd also had success at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, helping the 200-yard freestyle relay to a second-place finish while the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay each placed third.
