Duncan Honored by UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif.) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his performance this past weekend. Duncan went 4-0 as the Tartans defeated #19 Washington & Lee University 6-3 Saturday before dropping a hard fought 5-4 match to #4 Kenyon College Sunday afternoon.

Duncan started the weekend with an 8-4 victory with junior teammate Duke Miller (Poway, Calif.) at first singles before topping Jeremy Becht of W&L at third singles 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Against Kenyon, Duncan and Miller once again were victorious, winning 8-6 over Austin Griffin and Josh Stiles. The freshman then went on to defeat CJ Williams 6-3, 6-2 at third singles to record his perfect record for the weekend.  

Duncan has now won his last five singles matches including four over ranked opponents while he and Miller have won four straight, three over ranked opponents.
