Strong Play Not Enough in #16 Tartans Setback at #12 Pomona-Pitzer

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 16th nationally, fell 6-3 in a hard fought battle at #12 Pomona-Pitzer Tuesday, March 13. The setback moves the Tartans dual match record to 6-4 while the Sagehens improve to 6-5.

Carnegie Mellon duo of Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) and Bryce Beisswanger (Los Angeles, Calif./Viewpoint School) won their fourth doubles match of the season giving the Tartans the lone team point following doubles play.  The tandem defeated Chris Wiechert and Connor Sutton 8-6 at third doubles.

The Tartans recorded two points during singles play with victories at No. 4 and No. 5. Freshman Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) won 6-4, 7-5 over Frankie Allinson at four singles while senior Jeremy King (East Meadow, N.Y./Chaminade) defeated Uday Singh 7-5, 6-3 at fifth singles.
