Alla Wins the 2013 ITA Southeast Regional Singles Title

PITTSBURGH, Pa.  – Sophomore Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendelton School) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team beat Ben Hwang of Johns Hopkins University to become the 2013 ITA Southeast Regional Singles Champion.

Carnegie Mellon had three representatives in the semifinals. Junior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) lost in the quarterfinals falling to Hwang 2-6, 7-6, and 2-6, who would later move to compete in the finals.

To advance to the finals himself, Alla had to face fellow teammate freshman Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central). Alla defeated Zheng 6-4 and 6-2.

Alla will be advancing to the ITA National Small College Championships in Fort Meyers, Florida the weekend of  October 10.
