Tartans Defeat Grove City 9-0

(GROVE CITY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team opened the dual season with a 9-0 victory on the road against Grove City College on Friday, September 18.

The Tartans swept doubles action when freshman Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) and Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) won 8-0 in the number one slot. Freshman Julian Sweeney (Austin, Texas/Westlake) and sophomore Matt Seifert (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) won 8-1 at number two doubles while junior Kunal Wadwani (Saratoga, Calif./Ballarmine College Prep) and freshman Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif.) also won by a 8-1 score at number three doubles.

In singles, Wadwani, Levine and Downing all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores, as Wadwani played first singles against Jon Graber and Levine played second singles against Jon Fleet. Downing's win came at fourth singles against Nate Roberts.

The Tartans will next be in action at the ITA Regionals on Saturday, October 3 in Fredericksburg, Va.
