Alla Closes Out Competition at USTA/ITA Nationals

(SUMTER, S.C.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior men's tennis player Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) finished competition at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships Saturday, October 17. Alla was competing in the singles championship tournament for the second time after winning the event in 2013.

Alla's competition in the event came to a close on Saturday when he fell in the seventh-place match to Paxton Deuel of Trinity (Texas) University in three sets. Alla won the first set 6-3 before falling by the same score in the second set. Deuel was then able to win the match with a 7-5 third-set score.

Prior to the seventh-place match, Alla dropped another three-set match on Friday to Nicolas Chua of the University of Chicago. Chua won the match 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.

Alla will be back in action with the team on Saturday, February 6 when the Tartans host Walsh University.
