No. 11 Tartans Drop 4-3 Contest at Division I Youngstown State

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 11th in Division III, traveled to Youngstown, Ohio, to face the Penguins on Sunday, February 14. The Tartans fell 4-3 to the Division I school and are now 4-2 on the season.

The Tartans earned the point after doubles play, winning at first and third doubles. Picking up victories were the freshman pair of Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) and Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School), 6-2, in the first position and seniors Yuvraj Kumar (New Delhi, India/Millfield School) and Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School), 7-5, in the third position.

The Penguins won four singles matches in a row to clinch the match before Alla won, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, at second singles and Levine won, 5-7, 6-2, 10-7, at first singles.

The Tartans will next play in the Division III ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Friday, February 19 against fourth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. The three-day tournament is being hosted by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
