Tartans Win Final Point to Beat Stevens Tech

(SWARTHMORE, Pa.) — The 22nd-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team traveled to Swarthmore College to compete against Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday, March 1. The Tartans beat Stevens Tech with a final score of 5-4. 

How it Happened

  • The Tartans picked up doubles victories in the first and third positions. Freshmen Raghav Jangbahadur and Daniel Kong won 8-6 at number one doubles. Senior Nicholas Wernink and freshman Theodore Gershon won 8-5 at number three doubles.
  • In singles play, Jangbahadur won at first singles with a 6-3, 6-4 score to give the Tartans a 3-1 lead.
  • Kong won at third singles with a score of 7-5, 6-4 just ahead of Stevens picking up a three-set win at second singles.
  • Sophomore Akshay Joshi won the deciding point with the score tied up at 4-all with a sixth singles score of 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
