Tartans Travel to Texas for Match Against Trinity University

(SAN ANTONIO, Texas) – The 22nd-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team opened its spring break tour of Texas at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday, March 5. The Tartans played another tight contest against a ranked opponent, falling 6-3 to the 14th-ranked Tigers to move to 2-5 for the season.

How it Happened

  • The Tartans lead 2-1 after doubles play, but were defeated 6-3 when Trinity took control of singles play.
  • The Tartans won in the first and second positions. Freshmen Raghav Jangbahadur and Daniel Kong won 8-5 at number one doubles after sophomore Akshay Joshi and senior Derek Wong won 8-1 at number two doubles.
  • Trinity evened the score with a win at first singles as Kong gave the Tartans back the lead after winning at third singles by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
  • Trinity clinched the match at fourth singles after winning at fifth and sixth singles.

Notes

  • Kong has won three straight singles matches.
