Erra-Hernandez Honored By UAA
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Zachary Erra-Hernandez (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational Saturday, March 31.
Erra-Hernandez helped the Tartans to a first-place team finish out of 22 teams while turning in first-, second- and fifth-place finishes. The sophomore won the shot put with a personal best throw of 15.75 meters and placed second in the discus throw with another personal best mark of 44.34 meters. Erra-Hernandez claimed fifth-place honors in the hammer throw with a distance of 46.13 meters.
His marks in the shot put and discus currently ranks him tops in the UAA in both events.
