Newby Receives Invite to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Junior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track & field team received an invite to compete at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships held May 23-25 in La Crosse, Wisconsin hosted by University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Newby will be competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
    
Newby will enter the championships with a career-best time of 9:06.32 which currently ranks him 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase heading into the championships.  The junior claimed his second straight first-place finish at the UAA Championships with that time, which also broke the meet record he set last year.  

Newby will compete Thursday at 8:30 p.m. CT in the trials with the finals on Saturday at 2:10 p.m. CT.
